The Dogfish started the 2015 season with a win over the Vancouver Nighthawks on April 19. After a tough run of luck last year, the team is eager to contend for the MLU title this year.

That no-holds-barred spirit was in full force with this incredible fourth-quarter sprint and layout grab by Dogfish rookie Thomas Adams, earning him the Friction Gloves Catch of the Week.

“It feels surreal. I never imagined I would be on a professional highlight reel,” said Adams. He credits fellow Dogfish rookie Andrew Hooker for his part in the play.

“I busted deep the second I saw the disc go to him because I knew he had a nasty backhand huck. Sure enough, he delivered.”

With hundreds of fans looking on, Adams felt buoyed by the enthusiasm of the Fish Faithful.

“I got a huge adrenaline rush as I caught the disc. I had never played in front of so many people before, so the roar of the crowd was a nice surprise. It made me realize ‘Wow, this really is professional ultimate’.”
