The San Francisco Dogfish and Major League Ultimate are encouraging fans to donate to the Bay Area Disc Association during their Crowdfunding Campaign.

As we enter this season of giving, please join us in supporting the Bay Area Disc Association, the nonprofit hub of our local ultimate frisbee community. Your donation will directly support the growth of fantastic programs such as free girls’ ultimate clinics, grassroots youth programs aimed at bringing ultimate to low-income neighborhoods and of course, new adult leagues and tournaments in 2016 and beyond.

Nobody exemplifies the the spirit of what BADA is trying to accomplish more so than Dogfish handler and Bay Area Disc Executive Director, Mike McGuirk. “Personally, I’m most passionate about our programs to expand the base of the sport, to grow its popularity in underserved areas.” said McGuirk, calling on his experience spreading ultimate in Kenya.  McGuirk recognized that while ultimate can provide an affordable, enriching and healthy activity for adults and youth alike in communities with few means, it is predominantly found in middle and upper class areas. “I think local disc organizations have a duty to change this dynamic, and I’m extremely excited about our programs in 2016 and beyond that will make ultimate a more broadly accessible sport in the Bay Area. It’s not going to happen overnight, and we’ll need some serious outside investment to make it happen, but I really hope you join us in the effort.”

Your support for BADA’s end-of-year Crowdfunding Campaign is a quick and easy way to give back and spread the spirit of ultimate with a tax-deductible donation.  You can also maximize your giving impact with employer matching donations and stock donations. We hope you share our enthusiasm about Bay Area Disc’s plans for 2016 and the future of ultimate in the region.

Thank you so much in advance for giving back to our sport and local community. “Bay Area Disc is more than a nonprofit organization — it is a community of thousands of players, coaches, parents and fans. We provide high-quality, high-spirited playing opportunities for youth and adults of all levels with clinics, leagues and tournaments.” said McGuirk.

Happy Holidays.  We’ll see you on the field.
