San Francisco announced today that defensive cutter Sam Adamson has signed a 1-year contract for the 2015 season.

His third year with the Dogfish, Adamson is coming off his most successful season to date.

After spending the inaugural season observing from the sidelines as a practice player, Adamson was promoted to the starting defensive line where he made six defensive plays and scored 16 points on 13 goals and three assists.

“I am really excited to be playing for the Dogfish for my third season,” said Adamson. “The teams [in the MLU] are just realizing the potential of how the new rules can affect the game and make it even more fun to watch.”

While the Dogfish finished with with a record of 2-8, the team often played better than the statistics indicated. Adamson’s defensive abilities combined with his offensive production demonstrated to Coach Justin Safdie that he was one of the most consistent players on the field.

“Sam has been our most improved player of the last two seasons and was a defensive machine last year,” said Safdie. “I’m excited to have him back.”

In addition to playing at the team’s new home venue, Yellowjacket Stadium in Berkeley, Adamson looks forward to playing with the core of Dogfish players and new talent at the most recent tryouts.

“I expect the Dogfish and the MLU as a whole to make a big jump this year as we take our experience and knowledge gained over two seasons and really start to push the boundaries of what ultimate can be.”

Stay posted to the Dogfish website, Twitter and Facebook for more player signings in the coming weeks.
