Dogfish defensive cutter James Sheridan was awarded the Friction Gloves Catch of the Week for his double bid on a disc in last Sunday’s away game against the Seattle Rainmakers.

San Francisco was battling a four-point deficit when Andrew Hooker made a cut and got the disc to initiate the play.

“When I see Andrew Hooker get a huge under like that, I know where to go,” said Sheridan.

Deep. Sheridan was streaking ahead of Seattle defender Brad Houser until Houser quickly closed the gap, forcing Sheridan to jump for the disc.

“I’m a little frustrated because I definitely should have come down with the catch the first time,” said Sheridan. In that split second, he had a new focus.

“All I was thinking was that I needed to find it–I didn’t want to waste Hooker’s put,” he said. “We’ve been playing together for 8 or 9 years now, and already have a number of great combined plays with the Dogfish. Gotta keep that connection alive!”
