This week’s MLU Power Rankings are out, and the San Francisco Dogfish remain at fourth place in the Western Conference and seventh place overall.
“I think that the ranking seems pretty fair given the results so far this season,” said Dogfish Head Coach Justin Safdie.
The team is currently 1-3, already surpassing their loss record for all of the 2013 season. The latest defeat was in the matchup against the Portland Stags last weekend. The loss in overtime—the second one so far this season for the Dogfish—was tough, but also promising.
As much as they struggled in previous games with consistent flow and efficient disc handling, the Dogfish controlled the first three quarters of the game against the Stags. Their offense looked like the force it had been last season. That will only continue to improve.
And though the continued underdog status is a reversal of fortune from last season, the Dogfish are up to the challenge.
“We have a tough task ahead of us this weekend, being short-handed and on the road,” said Safdie. “But I believe we’re a better team than our record shows, and we plan on turning things around, starting with this double-header.”
